Your occasional reminder that PiS’s “stunning single-party victory in 2015” was (a) achieved by three parties, not one; (b) the contingent product of the left’s decision to run as a coalition, not a party; (c) based on an appeal to moderate voters; (d) not actually that large.

The populism largely came after the electoral victory had been secured. This government does not have an electoral mandate for illiberal revolution any more than it has the legislative authority to conduct one.
