    Private schools are generally also charities, my old school gets £12000 in donations per student per year, so 25p for each £ donated comes from Govt - ergo 000s in Govt funding on top of the fees from parents (£34000 now at my greatly privileged school). Hence the golf course...

    It's a longer conversation of course than a brief letter (or a tweet!). We do need to do more work as parents within state schools too - set up charities to raise funds, actively work to help the teaching, etc. But private schools are inconsistent with any kind of fair society...
