Commencing 1st listen through of @solobasssteve 's new album. Had it on in the background this week but listening properly now #longtimefan

1st track, 'One Year Afloat'- lovely melodic hook. Sounds like an instrumental version of a singer-songwriter track #nobadthing

Solo bass music can bring to mind thoughts of self indulgent wankery, but Steve's music is nothing like that. Think ambient & beautiful.

Track 2: 'Travelling North' - brooding, thoughtful, great distortion.

Track 3 of @solobasssteve 's new album 'Small Marvels' - beautifully layered loops with some lovely delays going on.

Track 4: This Merican Life - proper screwed up ambient & noisy soundtrack-ish soundscape stuff.... if music can be both ambient & noisy :-)

Currently tweeting my way through @solobasssteve 's new album '11 Reasons Why 3 Is Greater Than Everything', out May 18th. Amazing stuff.

Track 6, the wonderfully titled 'I Will Fix it Tonight by Dining on Artichokes' - glitchy, stop-start electronica. Except on the bass :-)

Track 7, 'I Could Get Used to This' - fantastic lazy distorted tremolo. Would love to see him play this one live. #needtohostahouseconcert

Usually I can guess as to how @solobasssteve is making strange noises on his bass, but on 'Moon Landing on What' I'm pretty baffled...

...which makes sense seeing as how it was inspired by Duncan Jones' amazing film 'Moon'.

Track 9, 'The Time it Takes' - an improvisation recorded live which gets *VERY DARK* towards the end. Love that menacing ambient growl :-)

Track 10, 'Minor Miracles - this one jumped out at me while on in the background this week. Probably my favourite track, for the moment...

... hints of U2, a great chord progression... more reminiscent of 'Passengers' (U2 & Eno) actually. Again... #nobadthing

I should probably used a hashtag for all these tweets. Oh well... with the last track about to start there's not really a lot of point :-)

Last track 'Nothing Can Prepare' - Beautiful ambient piece with some gorgeously filtered distortion halfway through. Classic @solobasssteve
