i believed, like many in dig media, that the tremendous benefits of the internet far outweighed the impact it wld have on trad publishers
and that as a consequence, the market and all its creative destruction should be let loose on the industry of news.
my thinking has shifted over past yr, as a result of the PPF project, as well as a study on platforms & journalism i am doing w/ @emilybell
reason: the rise of platforms as the central distributors of journalistic content + the pernicious effect of adtech is a market failure
a failure that in my mind justifies modest public policy ideas + reform/rethinking of the role and mandate of public broadcasters
