Back when @plisdehjkt started (again) in 2008, social activism wasn't much a part of Indonesian twitter user vocabulary.
What I tried to do with @plisdehjkt was bring the issues of Jakarta to the forefront of discussion, with a comedic/sarcastic angle.
I thought it was better to criticize something as a joke and let it spread, rather than be all too serious and bore people. @plisdehjkt
The approach has gained some fans (not to mention some enemies as well), but I guess it was inevitable; @plisdehjkt has reached a crossroads
Whether or not @plisdehjkt influenced it or not, social activism on Twitter in Jakarta is now high; awareness of issues is also high.
The birth of more serious movements like @savejkt certainly has more relevance now compared to what @plisdehjkt is or was.
And there are more social influencers spreading the issues now, making @plisdehjkt slightly irrelevant. It seems the mission is finished.
So I think it's time to put what @plisdehjkt has been for the past year anyway: retirement.
So, time for @plisdehjkt to be retired, and hopefully not needed again in the future. Cc @miund
The news feeds on @plisdehjkt will remain live for as long as I can keep them, but there will officially be no more new blog posts.
I want to try compiling @plisdehjkt posts into a book, but I think they're not relevant anymore. Such is the fleeting nature of blogs.
Of course, this decision comes also due to the fact that I could not find other like-minded writers for @plisdehjkt.
Stronger, better writers with more influence are now bringing issues to the forefront better than I could ever do through @plisdehjkt.
