my own experience is that I sell WAY more music when it's set to Name Your Price with no minimum. Lots of unpaid D/Ls too, but more buyers

Across my entire time on bandcamp, the average price paid for my stuff is Β£6.50 - that's not factoring in free D/Ls but does inc. USB sticks

including free downloads 2, I make just over Β£2 per download. Which is still more than I'd make per unit on a label…

I can also map how a LOT of those free downloads turned into sales later… sometimes of the USB stick for Β£25…

selling 24 albums for Β£25 on a USB stick has proved rather popular. Not surprisingly. music.stevelawson.net/merch

I release music FAR too often for the mainstream media to keep up. I rely on people getting excited about it as fans & telling their friends

..and I'm not blaming mainstream media for that. There's no reason any mag should have a 'what Steve's released this month' column :)

I also let people at gigs pay me when they get home if they've got no money on them. Have had non-payers twice. Not a bad ratio.
